HIE in Continuity of Care

One of the benefits of a health information exchange (HIE) is that it improves the quality and efficiency of care throughout the healthcare system. The Memphis-based RHIO not only provides an HIE between hospitals, but between hospital and clinic as well. In this study, submitted to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the impact of the HIE on the continuity of care will be investigated. Technology acceptance and patterns of use will be determined. In addition, the efficacy of the user interface will be determined as it relates to various care providers.
